There are many ways to give, including;

Memorial Donations

Granting a child’s wish is a wonderful legacy to the memory of a loved one who has passed on. The lasting effects of having a wish come true for a child are immeasurable and the memories created will boost their spirit on even the most challenging days.

The Rainbow Society of Alberta will acknowledge your loved one in a thank you letter to those who make a memorial donation, and will also notify you of those who have paid tribute.  Income tax receipts will be issued for all eligible memorial donations.

Please contact us at 780-469-3306 if you need assistance setting up your memorial tribute.

Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink

Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink is a non-profit program run under the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation. This program was introduced to the 2015 tournament and is a program designed to help raise funds for local charities, engage the community in the tournament, and provide matching funds for each charity involved. The program itself acts as a partnership builder between donors and charities, as all money will flow through the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation towards Alberta charities. All administrative costs and efforts for the program are covered by the Shaw Charity Classic tournament meaning that charities have no costs associated with the program and 100% of all donated funds through the Foundation will go directly towards the charity selected. On top of your donation, the most exciting part of BFK is the matching pool. For your generous contribution, up to 50% will be matched and the funds will go directly to your chosen charity.  Sign up today!

Donate Securities

The Canadian federal government has eliminated tax on capital gains for donations of securities, mutual funds, and segregated funds to registered charities.  You may donate securities to us, which are then eligible for a tax receipt equal to the full value of the investment donated, while at the same time eliminating any capital gains tax you would have to pay if you were cashing in or selling your securities (i.e. we receive the full donated amount, and you wouldn’t be required to pay capital gains tax on any appreciation in the security). Benefits of donating securities.

Donate Aeroplan Points

Aeroplan now allows The Rainbow Society of Alberta to accept donated points for our program.  Visit Aeroplan for more information and to see how easy it is to help a child receive a wish.

Donate Your Used Clothing

If you live in Calgary, you can donate unwanted clothing and textiles to Alberta Community Clothing Collection.  We have partnered with ACCC since 2013, and have been the grateful recipients of over $50,000 from the program.  Collection bins are conveniently located throughout the city, accepting a variety of gently used clothing and household linens.  Visit their website for additional information on the program and how you can help.

Donate a Life Insurance Policy

With a life insurance policy you can make a gift to The Rainbow Society and help yourself at the same time.  Here are few different options to consider;

  • Give an existing policy that you no longer need. You’ll receive a tax credit, plus additional credits if premiums are still owing and you continue to pay them.
  • Purchase a new policy in the name of The Rainbow Society of Alberta. You’ll receive a tax credit for each payment you make and assure a significant future gift to us.
  • Make your once-in-a-lifetime gift to The Rainbow Society of Alberta now, and invest your tax savings in a life insurance policy that will replace the asset for your heirs.
