Clark is, quite simply, one amazing little guy. He charms all of us when he visits, and leaves us wishing he’d be around a whole lot more! His mom wrote us this letter after his wish came true, and we’d like to share it with you.
“Disneyland, “The Happiest Place on Earth”, truly is and truly was ours to experience through your generosity and dedication to helping dreams come true for our extra special kids!
My son was one of the children that were able to experience firsthand that dreams do come true thanks to The Rainbow Society Of Alberta … Clark, who is now 9 years old, was diagnosed at birth with a rare vascular malformation called Cutis Marmorata Telangiectatica Congenita (CMTC) and then at 5 months, through an MRI with an even more serious condition, a rare neurological disorder (brain malformation) called Polymicrogyria (PMG). Children with both of these disorders can suffer from them to varying degrees, and will continue to do so throughout their entire life. Clark’s disorders so far have already resulted in a number of complications and therapiest, which he has cheerfully (most times) generally put up with, since he was 5 months old – it is all he knows. To others it seems like a lot of work, and it really is, [but] to Clark it forms a part of who he is, and we all know that he has a special place in this world and that the lives he touches can never be untouched, and all for the good!
Someone close to us recently said, “Take care of each other.” It immediately made me think that those words have been brought to life through The Rainbow Society and their sponsors, and how blessed we are that such an organization exists that not only demonstrates those words, but exceeds those 5 words, one child at a time, one dream at a time. The kindness, care and thoughtfulness that the Rainbow Society shows through the granting and planning of our special children’s dreams is extraordinary and truly makes the world a better place; a place where we really do ‘take care of each other’. The experience we went through when my son was referred was total joy, complete with thanksgiving & an awareness that good does exist & that the contribution The Rainbow Society offers to our vulnerable, special kids & their families, is under-appreciated & I only wish more awareness could be brought to this very valuable organization & the knowledge that the Society truly makes a difference in our special kids lives. We had such a wonderful experience together as a family in Disneyland and watching Clark’s expressions as he saw and partook in so many amazing and thrilling adventures was a real joy for us all! To see him laugh, and play, to watch him watch in awe, so many things, to see the joy on his face, to literally transport him to a new and magical place in his life, to actually live out a dream, made my heart swell.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for granting this very special boy his amazing dream, and for the magic and memories this has created.”
